Sled Specific Avalanche Training
This Avalanche course is designed specifically for sledders utilizing 40 years of snowmobile experience and 40 years of avalanche education. Learn how to stay out of harms way and self rescue if things go wrong.
You will gain knowledge, and skills to help you reduce your avalanche risk, understand avalanche Canada forecasts, weather forecasts, terrain assessment tools and more.
- You will learn to read the winter landscape, evaluate terrain & snowpack, looking for danger zones & safe routes.
- You will become fast and accurate rescuers. Honing your skills with avalanche transceiver, probe, and shovel. Practicing rescue skills in realistic scenarios with your buddies, and getting you primed for any situation.
- Field Day #1: Jan 18 2025 9 to 4 Mt. Wash, Sled Staging
Pre-Course Study done before the Online Meeting (Mandatory)
Approx. 2 hours, it can be broken into 2 sessions or done all at once.

Field Day Requirements:
Sled in good working order, Backpack, Probe, Shovel, Avalanche Beacon, Lunch, Beverages & Snacks Note: Be prepared for an active field day: you will be required to walk in the snow and dig to become proficient with avalanche equipment and rescue scenarios.
