Introduction to Snowmobiling in the Mountains

Learn to Ride a Snowmobile at Mount Washington, Vancouver Island (4 hours)

New to snowmobiling and want to try this exciting sport? Join us at panoramic Mount Washington, Courtenay BC, Vancouver Island and learn to operate a snowmobile safely, before putting those skills to use on a snowy scenic trail. Bring your camera and be prepared to capture breathtaking views of the Georgia Strait, the Gulf Island, and the snow covered peaks of the Coastal Range.

Instructors are certified by the Canada Safety Council, with years of experience, teaching you to operate a snowmobile  safely, before heading out on the trail to practice your new found skills. You will have fun learning, turns, stopping, accelerating, rider positions, emergency stops, Salome, figure 8’s , riding up and down hills, prior to taking these skills onto the surrounding trail system.

With a small class size (4-8 riders) it’s an excellent learning environment. So give us a call and join us for a fun and informative day.

Schedule:

The Recreational Snowmobile Course 4 hours 10 am to 2 pm

Overview:

  • Snowmobile Familiarization approx. 10:00 am to 10:30
    • Introductions
    • Waivers
    • Safety Gear: Helmet, Goggles, Backpack, Snowmobile Fitting
    • Hand Signals
    • 10:30 am Familiarization with snowmobile, controls and safety equipment
      • Introduction to safe riding practices, riding positions and techniques
    • 11:00 am Snowmobile Operation
      • Start, warm-up, and stopping snowmobile, including emergency shutdown
      • Starting out moving forward and backward
      • Trail Ride to Training Ground
  • 11:30 Snowmobile Operation – Training Ground:  Have fun while you practice snowmobile skills demonstrated by Instructor with in the training ground.
  • 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm Snowmobile Operation – Trial Ride:  Gain hands on experience, putting your new skills to the test, on the trail enjoying the magnificent scenery of the Vancouver Island Mountain Range.
